5 Wedding lighting tips & how it effects your photos
Planning a fall & winter wedding
More about me
Hi I'm Tiffany! Mama of 3 little ones, 17 year wedding photographer and portrait photographer, photography workshop host and mentor, 7 year wedding planner, micro homesteader, lover of travel & adventure, follower of Jesus, and hobby gardener.
With every engagement session, my goal is to find way to tell my couple’s story. Sam and Brooklyn’s engagement session wasn’t any different. Them being outdoors camping, hiking, and enjoying nature was a huge part of their dating and engagement story. So when one certain location didn’t come to mind, the Laurel Highlands hiking trails and parks at the top of Laurel Summit gave us so much to work with.
Our first stop was a location that Aaron and I had stumbled on years ago picnicking. I knew the water would be a rich color in the early spring and the thick mountain laurel would still be green while the rest of the trees were still lifeless. One of the things that I love about the top of the Laurel Highlands is the lush cover of Mountain Laurel. It and pine trees are a godsend in the later fall through early spring for lovely green in photos.
My second spot was a bit longer of a walk, but since Sam and Brooklyn were up for a small hike, it was perfect! Part of the Laurel Summit hiking area in Rector, Pennsylvania is a trail called Wolf Rocks. It’s a lovely stroll throughout the top of the Laurel Highlands that leads to a stunning rock outcropping showing off the beauty of the mountain range. It’s also a smashing location for stunning engagement and proposal photos.
Our last location was a spot that Aaron and I had found hiking a while ago as well and I knew it would frame their photos perfectly was some early spring green. An old railroad bed created a dramatic frame and foreground for their final engagement session photos in the Laurel Highlands.
So many times it’s hard to find the perfect location for engagement photos and that is ok. I walk each of our couples through a process that helps us find the best way to not only capture their engagement, but tell their story in a fun way that is personal to them. Not every location has be “their spot.” Sometimes, like for Sam and Brooklyn, it’s a location that gives a nod to “their spot” and simply shares their overall vibe as a couple.
