It’s hard to image that there will be 6 of us in a week or so. This pregnancy has been a whirlwind of struggles while trying to continue all of the daily tasks of motherhood, entrepreneur life, homeschooling, and mini homestead life. Despite all of the ups and downs, we couldn’t not have some lovely photos together as a family. My sweet friends Kara and Amanda stopped in the studio to create a lovely and simple Maternity Studio Family Portrait Session. I’m in love!

Kara was the shutterbug behind the photos and you can follow her over HERE. Amanda was the fun behind the lens working on grumpy Grady and inspiring the giggles. You can follow here over HERE.

Do you know what you are having?
Nope, we didn’t find out again. If you ask Grady, it’s a brother for him. He called it with Adeline, so we shall see if he is right this time too. The poor little guy has been praying for a brother since long before things get started.
When are you due?
May 5th is my due date, but we shall see how that one works out. I’m usually just around 40 weeks. Caroline was 40 weeks and a day due to her taking 30+ hours to escape. Grady was 40 weeks and 3 days. Then Addies was 40 weeks and 2 days. I guess the punctual wedding planner in me has rubbed off on my kids… Well, at least while they are in the womb.

Homebirth again?
Oh yes! Unless there is a major complication, homebirth has been so wonderful. To be able to choose my providers and build a brith team that I love all while staying in my own cozy personal space… It simply takes so much pressure off of things so I can allow my body to relax. Well, as much a type A person can. 😉

What do you think you are having?Â
Well, last time I was hoping for another little girl. Hello Adeline! This time, I am hoping for a little boy. However, as long as baby is healthy and happy, I don’t mind one bit. For Grady’s sake, I do pray this one is a little boy. He so has his heart set on a brother. I mean, even all 5 of our our chickens are girls. (We did have 6 but an opossum recently “ate our shicken” as Addie says when she retells the story.

How do the kids feel about all of this?Â
Well, Caroline is already asking if we are having 5 or 6 kids. I would say they are not bothered. I grew up with just my sister and I in our house, while Aaron grew up with 7 other siblings. I never dreamed of having more than 2 children of my own, but somehow here I am.
They say that 3 kids is the toughest, and they weren’t kidding. However, I am already seeing how things slowly get easier as they get older. Not that it doesn’t have it’s “moments,” just that they form their own little village and it’s the sweetest thing to observe and support as we foster that independence and confidence.

With 4 kids, you’re done now… right?
I truly don’t know. I once saw a video that said something to the effect of, “How full do you see your holiday meal table years from now?” It truly gave me pause and made me think. While the little years are tough and exhausting, they are going to be well worth it to have a table bursting with love and laughter from my own children and their families down the road. I don’t want a half empty Christmas dinner table.
Are you still going to be working?Â
Oh yes, I will still be working this year. My first wedding back from maternity leave is July 3rd. While I am on maternity leave, family portrait sessions are still booking along with my yearly birthday sessions, elopements, commercial work, and a few last minute weddings for 2026 as well. It will still be a grand wedding and portrait season this year!
Cheers to being a family of 6! Thank goodness we got that minivan two eyes ago. 😮
