Avoid this major wedding regret. Make sure you book this vendor.
A videographer. For many brides it’s the last thing they will book and the first thing they will cut out of their wedding budget. After 8 years of wedding photography, the biggest “I wish I would have” is not booking a videographer.
Now don’t get me wrong, photography is great. You can capture a moment, freeze it in time and display it for all to see. BUT there is an element that even photography can’t capture: sound. The vows spoken during the ceremony. The speeches given at the reception. The nervous groom pacing before the ceremony. The grand exit from the church with family and friends making all sorts of noise for you, complete with bubbles. (Yes, that is one of Aaron and I’s photos above.)
When Aaron and I were discussing what vendors we would like and who we must have, the topic of video came up. While he quickly dismissed video, I thought it best to have it. Sitting down a year after the wedding with a re-make of our wedding cake and watching the whole day was so worth the extra $$.
We re-lived the moments. We laughed over my baby sister giving her maid of honor speech and opening with the “Mawage, Mawage is what brings us together today” from the Princess Bride movie. Oh, and it was complete with the funny accent too. Then Aaron’s best man, Andy, saying that Aaron had told him that he was going to marry me shortly after we met. The anniversary dance and witnessing my grandparents dance together first time in a long time. The list goes on…
The moments in time that your can’t repeat and while you can’t hang a video on the wall in a collage of lovely frames or create a fabulous album with quick snip-its of your favorite moments you can watch one of the best days of your life over and over again.
