When I met Alicia, I asked her how she had heard about us and she said that she had been following us after seeing our work from a friend’s wedding. Once she and Steve were engaged, she knew she wanted Aaron and I to photograph their wedding. Oddly enough, I think I even remember the day that she stared following me. I don’t do a ton with my Facebeook page, but I do notice who “Likes” my page.
Alicia, Steve and I chatted several times about how they wanted their day to look and the overall theme was to have a simple style with rustic touches, navy blue and sunflowers. The location changed a few times and the size of their guest list but ultimately, saying “I do” in a place that meant so much to them was just right.
Their wedding day took place in Emporium, Pennsylvania just a few hours north of here in Elk County. The venue they chose was personal, Steve’s family’s cabin. Leading up to the wedding, work and the health of loved ones made it tough for Steve and Alicia to bring their wedding day dreams to life so I did my best to create the day they had envisioned when we first talked.
From Alicia’s sunflowers, to her wine bottle vases, I wanted the day to still be special and how she had envisioned it. I spent the week leading up to their wedding making sure I had everything for a mini-reception. From a little menu card, to their place cards and place settings. I ordered their cake, created the bouquet and boutonnieres and lastly made the centerpieces and accenting arraignments.
On our way up to Emporium that morning, we passed though a few little bursts of rain. I kept praying it would clear and the weather be nice. As Aaron and I were setting up, a few mini showers stopped by but once Steve and Alicia reached the cabin, the sky cleared and the rest of the afternoon and evening were clear.
Here is a little look into their wedding day…
I think one of the sweetest things was their “first look”/getting ready time. Steve and Caden waited till Alicia was dressed then peeked around the cabin to see her in her dress. After Steve helped her with her wedding accessories and she with his.
It was the cutest thing!!!
Caden and his special car Grandma bought him.
When it was time for their ceremony, we all gathered under the pines to whiteness Steve and Alicia say “I do”.
Her daddy escorted her and Caden join in half way. Awwww
I just love how he stood beside them the whole time. Bouquet in one hand and the little ring box in another. What a cutie!!!
They each wrote their own vows full of love and meaning then a kiss sealed this new little family.
Alicia’s mom said a few words and encouraged them.
Girl you looked lovely!!!!
Steve, you’re looking pretty dapper there!
Can I just say how much I adore this little guy? He is just the cutest!!!
After a few photos, we headed back to the cabin for the reception!
You can’t have a reception without eating some yummy cake.
Or a toast!
Lastly we strolled up to the hilltop for a few more photos and their first dance. The view was spectacular!!!
About halfway through their first dance song, with Aaron still taking photos of course, I decided to shoot a little video. I hadn’t ever done this with my camera but I thought I would try it out. I had no idea if it would work of not but once we return home that evening, I quickly pulled up the video and sure enough it had. I was overjoyed and in tears watching them the sweetness between the two of them as they danced.
Steve & Alicia,
Thank you so very much for allowing us to be a part of your day! For trusting me to take your wedding vision and run with it. For letting us be the witness on your marriage license. (This made me feel so special.) Aaron and I were overjoyed to be a part of your wedding day and then your wedding weekend too. lol Thank you!!!
Cheers to many many years as you two build your life together! <3
