Each wedding day walk-through photographer workshop is unique. After the 2021 workshop, I didn’t think we could ever match how wonderful it was but the 2022 one was magical in it’s own way. We booked the entire Annsfield Estate for the workshop and rented out all the rooms leaving it a really unique and close knit group of wedding photographers. Day-time classes and “wedding” photos with night time s’mores and photographer chatter about all things weddings and life in general.
It made the workshop for those that did the three day option more of a retreat. A chance to bond and learn not just from me but to spend time encouraging each other. For those that did the one day workshop option, the day-of the full styled wedding, it was still super cool to get to know them and then end the day around the big dinner table together.
Dara and I always try to bring together on-trend styles with our own creative twist when creating the mood and inspiration boards for our vendors. This time we wanted to pull from the Annsfield Estate’s old world charm and bring in bright color pops. Right as the wedding day walk-through workshop was happened, the latest season of Bridgerton dropped and the workshop suddenly took on a Bridgerton vibe as well.
Jayne and Claire at The Copper Petal took the look to another level with their florals. This STUNNING railing piece was a work of art in the foyer of Annsfield. This space also doubled as our faux ceremony area as well, so the greens and florals was a showstopper!
Our classroom for our attendees that were joining us for the three day retreat experience enjoyed this delightful balloon masterpiece made by non other than Jess with The Cheerful Balloon. Who says you can’t have fun with balloons, right? The balloons just leveled up our classroom space and made it ever so snazzy! Just wait until you see the colors design she did for the wedding space. *insert a squeal of delight!
I can’t forget to mention our AMAZING models Kourtney, Jason, Hannah, & Cameron!!! These four graciously tried on dresses, wore suites, modeled for the attendees and traveled to Annsfield for this workshop. They were simply AMAZING and ever so gracious! Even with wardrobe changes as the workshop adjusted and vendor changes happened, they were totally phenomenal! We couldn’t have made it all happen without them!
If you are an old soul like me, you will probably be OBSESSED with these hand created stationary masterpieces that Judith Browne Calligraphy designed for us. Her attention to detail was in every piece she shared with us. You can see even more as the shoot goes on. Each and every paper piece you see was crafted by her and hand done.
Day #1 of the workshop was a mix of class time and photographing details. It give the attendees a chance to learn, easy questions and get creative. As always, I love the challenge of being asked things on the spot during this time. It also inspires me to see such creativity in others as we all share the same things but have different ways of styling them. it goes to show you how personal photography is and how you aren’t simply a “photographer.” You are an artist.
This AMAZING dress was shared with us from our long-time friend Kim with Kimberly Jaymes Bridal in Latrobe. There were two dress options this year and this was the vendor choice with the style. I’ve never seen a dress quite like it with the darling little off shoulder puff long sleeves. Unique dress styles are always a favorite in my book.
The workshop continued on Day #2 like the start of any wedding day, getting ready photos of the bride & groom, a first look and portraits followed by the ceremony and reception.
I have become obsessed with this new small micro wedding “trend” that has happened since 2020. For the workshop and the space at the Annsfield Estate, the foyer was the perfect small micro wedding ceremony space. We gathered vintage chairs from around the mansion and brought it all to life. Just imagine your closest family and friends intimately gathered around you here. It’s just so romantic!
From the faux ceremony to the reception, we followed with the “wedding day” timeline we created and built during Day #1’s class time. Timeline building is HUGE for photography and vendors in general. It’s one of the things that is the most stressful to teach at the workshop but ever so important. It’s a class time with me in the “hot seat” while attendees give me the hardest timeline locations, times and client wishes. I then have to craft it into something giving everyone the feel of how it would look working with real couples.
Walking through the rest of the workshop on Day #2, we approached the reception like Aaron and I would on a real wedding day, details then events. The stunning textured tablecloth was from Lendable Linens. It’s delicate flowers brought such soft texture to the table.
Annsfield’s own bar cart was decorated with charming pieces from AZ Home Details. Their adorable ice bucket and scoop was a perfect addition!
Meet the showstopper of a wedding cake designed by non other than Emily at Four Oaks Bakery. Getting this masterpiece to Annsfield was quite the chore but she made it there in one piece for her photo debut.
If you thought the cake was grand, Maisey Cakes brought out the sweet tooth in the cutest way possible with mini cakes and macarons for the dessert table. It was SO hard to not eat all of these yummy treats while setting this up for the workshop.
You will see these two in there upcoming wedding day blog post but for now, you can enjoy these romantic photos from their workshop debut.
Aren’t they just so cute?!?!?! I have been asked if our workshop “models” are models or real couples. They are real couples! You can’t get the connection magic with a model. This is pure love and joy! Call me a hopeless romantic but it’s the sweetest!
With baby Jackson being due any day now, the 2023 Wedding Day Walk-Through Photographer Workshop is not happening this year BUT we are putting together a Mini Workshop for November the 5th at Station House 7 called the Big Day, Little Details Workshop for wedding photographers.
