Pinterest Wedding Planning | Wedding Planning Tips | Pittsburgh Wedding Photographer

As part of our Jackson Signature Photography bride and groom wedding experience I, Tiffany, send our brides a weekly wedding tip. Each wedding tip reaches our bride’s email inboxes on Monday at 11:30 AM. These wedding tips cover a vast list of topics but more recently I debuted a series call Photography Lies and Myths. This month as part of our monthly wedding tip that I post on the blog, I’m sharing one of the major photography myths.

My wedding can look like Pinterest = Myth

True, while Pinterest Wedding Planning can be helpful, it can also be harmful. Yes, things on there look pretty but it takes a lot of time and planning. Half of the weddings posted on there come from styled shoots. Styled shoots are so much fun for photographers and other vendors but reality is a little bit different. Especially if you are looking to DIY things or even if you want spring flowers and you are getting married in the fall.

First of all, if you are unsure of what a styled shoot is, I’ll break it down for you. A styled shoot is where several wedding vendors work together to create a fake wedding. They bring out their most expensive and elaborate skills, products, and services. It’s created as an inspiration for brides and grooms but not always budget friendly for every bride. Styled shoots are meant for fun and inspiration but can be confusing on Pinterest.

As you are planning your wedding, use Pinterest as a reference or inspiration. Know that when you meet with perspective wedding vendors, your pins on Pinterest might need to be altered and that’s ok. A trusted wedding vendor will advise you as to what will work with your budget, wedding style, and their own skill set.

Also, for those creating and trying their own DIY’s from Pinterest, don’t get discouraged when your DIY doesn’t look just like the Pinterest one. I’m sure we have all had a Pinterest DIY disaster or ten… I know I have. So much so that my cousin and I are no longer allowed to get together and cook unless it’s a recipe from a cookbook. Yes friends, our sad attempts at all of our Pinterest pins have failed so badly that we have banned ourselves.

So if you would like some help with that lovely decor and making your wedding look Pinterest perfect, let me know. I am happy to help or can refer you to a wedding pro that can do it all for you so you can master that Pinterest Wedding Planning.

Hugs!
Tiffany
