You’re engaged, the wedding magazines have been bought and a million ideas are running through your head. All those vendors, the pretty venues and a million Pinterest pins are floating around in the back of your mind. Hold it right there though, before you get to far and to carried away, let’s take it back to the reason you have that pretty little ring on your hand…
That ring resides on your hand as a promise.
That wedding day will take place as an commitment.
Those years to come are about the life you two will live together.
So when you start to build your wedding day dream, take into consideration the two of you. The things that you love, the places you like to go and the food you enjoy. Build your wedding day, not on the latest Pinterest trend but on the things that make you two the fun loving couple you are.
I was watching a video the other day about a bakery in Dallas that made an 18 layer cake. The bride had requested that this cake essentially be designed and created as the focal point of the reception. Something that would capture your attention the moment you walked into the room. On a wedding day, I feel the focal point and what should capture guests attention should be the love shared between a couple on their wedding day. The moments between them that make us all go “aw.” While the 18 layer cake is cool and all, I feel that the true point of a wedding is lost.
For Aaron and I, I wanted our main focal point to be us. Our love, joy and our excitement that day. Not in a selfish way but in the inspiring way. You see the reason why all those family and friends gathered on our wedding day was not they wanted to free booze, we had a dry reception, but because they loved us and want to celebrate with us. So why wouldn’t we have been the focal point.
Anyway, don’t loose sight of the real meaning behind your wedding. The wedding day is about the two of you and the commitment you are making to one another. Never feel like you need to take things over the top.
If you aren’t over the top people, then don’t feel the need to plan, decorate and plan an over the top wedding.
Hope you enjoyed these wedding planning tips! Happy Planning!
