Finding a place to make my own | Finding a house to call my home
It took us almost 2 years to find a house. There were several others that we found and tried to purchase, but for one reason or another, it never worked out. I can’t tell you how blessed we are to have found the “perfect” house for us. It’s been a long and stressful journey but in the end, it has all been worth it.
We started dating on June 20th 2010. We were married on October 20th, 2012. We bought our first house on December 20th, 2013.
Our house will go through several phases of renovation. The first phase will allow us to move in. There is a bath to turn into a bath/shower with tile to refinish so it’s no longer pink. Rooms to scrub, prime and paint so the years of neglect and smoke will be gone. Then basement and attic to gut for finishing in a few months and an archway to remove to open up the main area of the house for phase 2 in the spring/summer. (We hope!)
We have been working on the house for a little over a week. My has it been fun! Thankfully Aaron knows what he is doing. I wouldn’t be able to have my dream house without his help and expertise. Since the holidays were crazy for everyone and no one wanted Aaron , Jackson Renovations, remodeling their homes so close to Christmas, we were blessed with the time to work on our house. Phase 2 will add about 10-14 feet off the back of the house allowing a large kitchen and dining room. Plus add two single window dormers to the front of the house and one long on to the back giving us a master bedroom, bath, walk-in closet, and 4th bedroom. Oh and redoing the front porch and siding.
Phase 3/4 will be closing in the side porch for a cute sun/mud room and finishing off the basement.
So there is a lot to do and it takes a ton of imagination to envision it all, but no worries, the end result will be lovely! I assure you that! : ) Think cozy northern cape cod. Light blue and green, with navy accents to keep the cape feel. Rustic barn wood beams, and a dry stack stone fireplace. Plus plenty of whites and creams to keep it all light and airy. Yep, that just about sums it all up. I can’t wait to show you more soon!
