When planning your wedding, there are a few things that you hope will never happen, but these two had more than a few things pop up. Melissa and Josh overcame each and every one of their wedding planning struggles and despite their venue changing three times, they planned the most lovely dockside classic beach inspired wedding.
Originally their wedding was planned for Riverfront in Aspenwall and a few months out from their day the lost their venue. So the whole beach inspired looked seamed to be lost. After two more changes in their venue, we settled on keeping the already planned beach glass style items, color palette, and build their day around a dockside theme. I have to say it turned out quite lovely in the end I think.
A romantic first look to place under the willow tree down by Willowbrook’s water front dock area.
I will take a willow tree any day! It was the perfect romantic touch! The water front view of Aspenwall’s Riverfront Venue would have been lovely as well, but this tree stole the show!
A quaint dock sits on the edge of Willowbrook Farm’s small pond and reminded me of the dock along the waterways of Boone Hall in the Carolinas. Again, giving a nod to the beach theme in a subtle and classic way. A little beach sand was added for their unity ceremony. I mean, you can have a beach inspired wedding without a little sand somewhere, right? Oh and I can’t forget to mention the cute little boat they had water in. That was just darling!
Something that made this wedding Willowbrook wedding a little extra fun is that I was originally just the designed for the wedding. However, as 2020 hit Josh and Melissa hard with all of it’s ups and downs, they lost vendors after vendor. With a little help from some great friends, I created a mini team to help fill in the gaps since I could only be so many places at once. So photography was partly done by myself and my friends Darcie and her sister Lyndsey helped. For day-of coordination, my friend Dara stepped in too. 2020 didn’t ruin their day!
The beach was the inspiration. A rustic barn, shades of blue, beach glass style table numbers, and stunning sunset floral colors with pampas grass tied the look together. When you can be at the beach or on the river, why not bring the look to what space you do have?
Who says you can’t have just a little fun on your wedding day?!?!? Melissa and Josh brought a party with they for their grand entrance and first dance. DJ Adam with Moxie Events killed it with his sparklers that were also barn safe.
Melissa & Josh,
We were on a wild ride planning your day but I think it was the most memorable yet! You two stuck through the tough times and it paid of immensely! Cheers to years of happiness as Mr & Mrs!
Hugs!
