We have often talked about taking a weekend and staying at home to relax but running three businesses between the two of us means that we always get sucked into working. So we did the next best thing and took the couple hour drive to Lake Erie for the weekend. Thank’s to one of my work cards our hotel was free. Woohoo! I took the liberty of leaving my camera at at home so ya’ll will just have to deal with my iPhone photos.
We set out early Friday afternoon for our Lake Erie mini vacation. The weather was lovely the whole way up but I hear ya’ll got snow that afternoon? While Satuday and Sunday were rainy and not the best, Friday blessed us with a little sunset. I’m pretty sure our tour of the Presque Isle lighthouses was the highlight of the weekend for me. While finding the first one was easy, the little black and white striped one was harder to find. A few years back I had photographed a senior session on the island but I couldn’t remember where it was.
We covered the island and finally found it but not before running into a wedding party rehearsing on the beach. After chatting for a few, we promised to give them the lighthouse directions once we to found it. While we have no idea if they actually went there on Saturday or not, I couldn’t help but invasion all the pretty photos that I could have taken there had I been their photographer. I guess I’m never officially not working. I just can’t help myself!
Oh and Friday evening since it was Saint Patrick’s Day we went into the little city of Lake Erie for Fish and Chips. I also ordered a glass of wine and you wouldn’t believe the look the waitress gave me. Goodness was it priceless! I guess you can’t take me to an Irish Pub on Saint Patrick’s Day. I’ll just order wine with my fish and chips. Oops!
Oh my goodness this was the cutest houseboat I have ever seen!! There was a small bay that housed about half a dozen houseboats or different shapes and sizes. I was slighting obsessed with them! I have only ever seen actual house boats but these homemade ones were just to cute! I want one!!
The prized black and white stripe lighthouse. <3 I looked online for this little guy and there is hardly any info on him. I guess he is not as cool as the other one but I think it’s my favorite! So if anyone would like to elope in the area, have their senior photos taken or a full blown wedding PLEASE sign me up as your photographer. hehe
Here is where I wish I would have brought my real camera… Oops!
If you are planning a trip to Lake Erie for the weekend…
Stay in one of the hotels with suites, you have a full kitchen to save a few pennies.
Find the little black and white striped lighthouse. It’s to cute not to see.
Visit a local winery and try ice wine. It’s rather sweet but very good.
Have Fish and Chips at Molly Brannigan’s Irish Pub. One of our couples told us about this place and they didn’t lead us astray. I don’t even like fish BUT their fish and chips was delectable!!
Happy Travels!
