Fall Tour of New England

So as I start to write this it’s well after 2:00AM. I have this thing about getting things done on certain days and since tomorrow, or should I say today, is Tuesday, I MUST blog our travel on #TravelTuesday. Oh the silly things I do. So here you have it friends, our fall tour of New England all wrapped up in one blog post complete with both iPhone and real camera photos.

The start of every good adventure starts with an early morning and a hot cup of lemon water, or at least mine do. We left early two Friday’s ago for Shannon & Will’s wedding in Scituate, Massachusetts. Our short ten hour drive might have turned into an elven or twelve hour one but not to worry. We arrived at our hotel in one piece.

After unloading our car onto the cart, I began to realize we MIGHT have over packed… Hey now, don’t judge. We were packed and ready for 2 weddings, an engagement session, mid week adventures AND our 4th anniversary celebration.

Shannon and Will’s wedding was a smashing success that Saturday. After a darling first look at the Scituate lighthouse, we decided to double back to the area Sunday and do a little more exploring. The lighthouse was just to cute and the town was as well!

After seeing all there was to see in Scituate, we traveled a little further north to Cohasset. There we found a beach we could not visit because we were not property owners, some rather large homes and the most perfectly situated church.

I’ve been told Boston in the fall is lovely. While I was there in the fall, I still have yet to see this lovely Boston everyone talks about. Thanks to a warm front, the leaves had hardly turned. I guess I will have to go back another time. We did however make some cute little friends at The New England Aquarium.

Our Boston adventures ended with a our next long drive to visit Aaron’s Grandma in New Hampshire. While, Boston was a little bit of a let down, New Hampshire did not disappoint. I don’t believe I have seen a fall more vibrant and colorful in my life! I didn’t want to leave!

A fog settled in Tuesday night and by evening on Wednesday, it still had not lifted. So Aaron and I took advantage of it and drove around finding the perfect photo spots. I’m pretty sure the fog made the photos.

Oh my goodness, so this one cracks me up. When Aaron and I packed, we weren’t really planning on our stop in New Hampshire so we didn’t pack hiking clothes. After changing our minds about 3 times, we decide we were going to hike a New Hampshire local mountain, Mt Monadnock. This would have been great had we come prepared. I had no tennis shoes, Aaron didm’t have the hiking pack and neither of us had enough food or water for a 6 mile hike. So instead, we hikes about 3 miles and talked to a family on the way back down. Folks, it was our lamest hike ever and boy were my socks and Sperry’s looking classy! Yikes!!

After our New Hampshire stop, we went south again to Connecticut for our 4th anniversary. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long already! Oh my! New Haven was the first and only true stop on our Connecticut adventure. I’m not sure why there but that’s what Aaron chose. They did have a lighthouse!

This is what happens when you travel with two photographers and no selfie stick…. I had to set up the photo just right to get us both and the lighthouse in the photo

Look at this dapper fellow freezing in the wind with me for a few photos. This guy and I have been married 4 years and our adventures together continue.

After taking one to many photos of this lighthouse, Aaron found a few parks to take a leasure stroll by. One of the areas held a long fishing pier and a few fishermen. While there, a fisherman caught one of the most unique fish I have seen. The fish had almost wing like fins. It was crazy!!

That evening Aaron took me out to dinner to celebrate. The dinner location of choice was an old bank turned restaurant. The seat he had reserved was not quite ready for us so we happened to get the best seat in the house. At least it was the hostesses version of the best seat in the house.

We had one more photo shoot before our second travel wedding and that was Jesse and Alex’s engagement photos. These two now live in North Carolina but are New Jersey natives so they drove up to spend some time with us. Jesse is one of Aaron’s BFF’s from college and these two will be saying “I do” next October. Look for their engagement photos coming soon!

Our last and final stop was in West Orange, New Jersey for Christina and Greg’s wedding. These two rocked their gusty and rainy wedding day like none other!! Goodness I can’t wait to blog this one!!! Woohoo stay tunes friends!!

Well there you have it. Our 9 day, 5 state, 2 weddings, an engagements session and an anniversary tour has come to an end. While I now wish I lived in New England, I will just have to make due with visits there. So next time you have the opportunity to head further north in the fall, take it! I hope you’ve enjoyed this fall tour of New England!!
