Over the weekend I was photographing one of our sweet couples as they prepped for the next milestone in their lives, a baby! While we were chatting, talk of a baby moon came up and whether or not it was worth taking one and where to go. I then realized I had never blogged about ours and that there are a few tips I could share about taking one. So today on the blog I’ll be sharing a few photos from our Cook Forest babymoon and a few reason why you should take a babymoon.
Tip #1: Take a Babymoon
To take a babymoon or not seams to be a big question however I so go for it! Why? You won’t ever have this “just the two of us” time back. Yes you can sneak away for a husband and wife trip when you have a little one but you will always be thinking about your little one/s at home. So take the time for the two of you before baby arrives.
Some of my most treasured moments with Aaron are during our trips. While we have a lot of fun at home, getting away from our company’s and focusing on us is simply the best. Once baby arrives there will be so much to do that the time on your babymoon will be much needed.
Tip #2: Where to take a babymoon
Aaron and I had planned out this great beach trip to Florida BUT thanks to my busted tailbone from a hiking fall and a bad hip, I wasn’t up for the plane ride and driving so we canceled that trip. We were pretty bummed but we decided to enough our time off a little closer to home. We picked one of our favorite local places, Cook Forest.
Our first pick when we started planning months before was Hawaii however the flight would have been to much. They say that after about 35 weeks they really don’t want you to fly and personally after about 30 weeks, I feel like we girls don’t even want to venture very far from home. Maybe it’s the nesting that kicks in?
When planning you babymoon spot, it doesn’t have to be far. It could be a trip into Pittsburgh or a flight a few states over. Just make sure you find a spot that you will enjoy and plan to have to make trip changes if your heath changes with baby later in your pregnancy. Personally I wish we would have planned the time off and then picked the location a few weeks before. We did loose a little money canceling our Florida trip.
This cute little cabin was our winter babymoon hideaway and the snow that fell while we were there couldn’t have been more perfect. I was in heaven!
Tip #3: How long should a babymoon be?
This is something that will be different for everyone. For us, I wanted it to be a bit longer. We run ourselves ragged with running our company’s so taking some extra time was what we needed. A babymoon doesn’t have to be a long trip though. It could be a day trip or a weeks long if you like. The whole idea of a babymoonn though is to get-a-way together before baby arrives.
