With passing rain left from hurricane Harvey and a shower before their “I do”, Carissa and Jordan ducked between drops for their summer Barn at Madison wedding.
Carissa and Jordan’s relationship began in a blur of introductions. The two met at a Greek Life event at college during the start of Greek Week. Since it was the beginning of the week of events, the first day is almost like speed dating. Carissa says, “It is for everyone to meet really quick that way the rest of the week isn’t awkward not knowing anyone. Jordan and I were last to meet each other. You only get a few minutes to talk and that is the time. We can promise you that we never got the full time.”
Carissa is from Northwest Ohio and Jordan is originally from New Jersey but thankfully Jordan moved from New Jersey to attend Defiance College in Northwest Ohio. Jordan not only fell in love with the area, but also, his beautiful bride, Carissa. The two are the definition of the cliche “opposites attract” according to Carissa, “I am loud, outgoing, and will speak my mind without even thinking. He is quiet, shy, and thinks before he speaks. They say opposites attract and boy do we fit that well! He keeps me calm and settled, pushes me to be my best self I can be, and most of all, he loves me the way I am. He is the greatest thing in the world to me!” and Jordan explains, ” What I really love about her is that I’ve always felt comfortable to be myself with her. She is confident in whatever she does in her life, and she shows me much love and affection.”
Jordan proposed on the beaches of New Jersey on May 8, 2015. They packed a picnic basket for lunch and took their beloved dog, Bear, with them. Carissa recalls, “We went for a walk along the beach and that is where is proposed. The beach was not in season yet so it was just him and I. It was an intimate area for us to take in this next step of our lives together. And of course he secretly brought a bottle of champagne for us to celebrate there on the beach.”
The couple’s wedding venue, the Barn at Madison, sits directly between Ohio and New Jersey, making it the perfect location for their family and friends to meet to celebrate Carissa and Jordan staring the rest of their life together. They kept their big day casual and elegant with a Spanish traditions to honor Carissa’s roots. The Barn at Madison permitted the couple to have the relaxed, converse casual celebration that they wished for. Despite the rain, the day was full of vibrant color and love. The happy tears from each guest washed out the falling rain and permitted the sun to shine as Carissa met Jordan at the end of the aisle to say “I do” to the rest of their lives. The couples relationship started in a blur but now they can take their time embracing every minute of life as Mr. and Mrs.
A promise ring years from years before and a wedding invitation to the start of their lives as Mr & Mrs.
Carissa and Jordan sported their custom Converse engagement session and on their wedding day. How cute!!
Family might not always be present in person but they were certainly watching from above for Carissa & Jordan’s wedding. A few added traditions from Carissa’s Hispanic heritage made the day even more personal.
“Grow old with me, the best is yet to be.”
