Berkeley Springs Wedding Photographers Mini Vacation
Sometimes you just need a little get-a-way. Some downtime. Time to just relax and enjoy. We did just that the other weekend in Berkeley Springs West Virginia. We have been traveling through this darling little town for years and on our way home from our big Southern Styled shoot in North Carolina in April, I decided we had to stay there. No more passing through, we were going to say that we had truly been there. First of all The Country Inn of Berkeley Springs is just charming! This inn is what made me want to stay there in the first place. I adore buildings with history and this place was full of it!
Friday night when we got there we went to the overlook, you know, what all good tourists do. It was pretty, but as usual, the best view was not at the overlook but on the other side of the road between through the trees. (That view is not shown in photos, it’s just in my head.)
We found some furry friends along the way!
Saturday we biked the C & O Canal. Oh my was it a lovely little ride! I would highly recommend it!
There were portions where the worn path was only a little wider then your bike tire but it made it all the more lovely! Oh and did I mention we had the most snazzy bike rentals? j/k
We stopped at the C & O Canal visitors center, the house below, to learn more about the history of the old locks.
Each Saturday night, the Berkeley Spring State Park hosts a little concert.
Oh and did I mention that some of our good friends joined us? Yep, Carla & Mike came down Saturday night and enjoyed Saturday and Sunday with is.
We all hiked Sunday morning at Cacapon State Park.
Enjoyed lunch at Panorama at the Peak and this fabulous view!! You can see three states from here!
If you have ever wanted to bathe where a president has bathed, Berkeley Springs State park has the perfect place to go! Yes, o’l George Washington truly did bathe there… Aaron did too. Well, a took a chilly dip rather.
Love these guys!!
So before you pass on through this little old town again, here are what I believe are the highlights.
- You have got to stay at The Country Inn of Berkeley Springs
- Grab a smooth from Lighthouse Latte – Coffeehouse. Yes, I know it’s a coffee shop but I have been cutting back on my coffee consumption so a smooth was perfect!
- Eat dinner at Lot 12. The service is slower, their menu even says so, but the food is excellent! Most of it is farm to table and somethings are even from their own garden.
- Stroll through the little town and enjoy the little shops, especially the antique shops. (The book store owner will give you a rundown on the “who’s who.” She is great!)
Until our next trip!
