Well Groomed Groom Tux vs Suit | Greensburg Wedding Photographer | Wedding Tips

Tux vs suit?
Rent or own?
Match the groomsmen or choose something a little different?
Bowtie or tie?
Boutonniere or pin?

These are just a few of the questions a groom will have answer. Guys, your bride to be will be so thrilled if you have take a moment to look at some of these questions and see what you like. I know you all roll your eyes at her Pinterest addiction BUT maybe stroll through their website and see what other dapper gents are wearing these days.

One of Aaron’s biggest tips to grooms is to consider buying a suit. The cost of a tux rental often comes quite close to the cost of buying a suit and having it tailored. By having it tailored, you now have a suit is fitted to your body AND you get to keep it after. Often times stores like JC Penny and Macy’s have great sales on their suits plus coupons.

One mistake Aaron and I made when we were married at 2012 was renting his tux. Aaron and his five groomsmen were all wearing gray suits with cowboy boots. We had a rust wedding in case you were all curious. While the tux fit him well enough, the one thing we did not consider was the shoes he would wear with it. While we girls bring our shoes to our wedding fittings, most guys don’t bring theirs.

So imagine by surprise when I saw him, from behind, on our wedding day and realized he had a droopy rear! Oh boy! There he was all dressed up and his pants are all droopy from his cowboy boots pushing them up and all sorts of weird ways.

While things like tux or suit color might need to be something you both talk about, stop in a shop and see what cut or style you like. See what looks good on you and what will be comfortable. If you think your wedding style could be more casual, consider forgoing the coat and maybe try some awesome suspenders.

Either way, once you two chat attire and finalize it, work with your groomsmen to make sure they get their attire. So if you choose to go the tuxedo route, make sure your groomsmen get their measurements in to your tuxedo shop. If you choose a suit, be sure the guys are buying them and getting their attire ready.

So trust me when I say this guys, your lovely bride has so much going on, you taking care of your attire and the groomsmen’s will be a major help to her!

Happy planning!   – Tiffany
