Last week I share about how my grandpap passing caused me to re-think and take a god hard look at taking photos at family events and just photos in general. This week I am pondering the importance of wedding photos. Specifically family portraits at a wedding.
I know this is a totally riveting topic, NOT! Here me out though. Out of all the things that happen on a wedding day what is most commonly dreaded? While I haven’t made an official poll about this, in my unofficial poll, family portrait time seams to be a top contender.
While it might be up there on the “things I don’t want to do on my wedding day list” I have realized over the years how crazy important they truly are. You never know how much time a loved one has so take the time to snap a photo with them.
So many times I see one of our sweet couples posting a photo after someone passes and it’s a wedding photo during family portrait time. While it warms my heart to see my photo it also makes my heart a little sad. I know those dreaded family photos aren’t fun but trust me, they matter. I always tell my brides that family photos are important but more than ever I have found this to be true.
When Aaron and I approach a wedding day with one of our couples, we sit down and map out all the necessary family photos. Our couples don’t even need to have a list made, we help them make one so it takes the stress away. After 11 years of making the list we have gotten pretty good at it as long as our couples know there family members. 😉
Come their wedding day, family photos are then a smooth and streamlined process that creates lovely wedding photos for years to come.
