I might be a sappy mess throughout this wedding day blog post because Miranda is like a sister but also a friend. I couldn’t have been happier for her and Nick. If you have followed their story at all, Miranda was one of my senior models several years ago and through our road trip to Cape Hatteras for her senior portraits we became friends. Just a few months ago a took a spur of the moment trip to photograph Nick proposing and in July these two said I do.
Enjoy their stunning Cape Hatteras wedding on the blog complete with portraits under Spanish moss covered trees, a quaint ceremony overlooking the Pamlico sound and sunset dockside photos at The Inn on the Pamlico Sound. They truly pick all the best things that Cape Hatteras had to offer.
First misty eyed moment here. In several detail photos I did bring a prop that I had hoped to use in my sister’s wedding detail photos but it didn’t work out. So I decided to bring along a family heirloom piece to use for Miranda’s details. The antique clear glass jewelry tray that is in the photo below and a few others belonged to my mom’s side of my family. It seamed a fitting piece to share.
The feel of the day was a timeless and classic look but since they were in North Carolina on Cape Hatteras the beach theme was included too. Naturally a splash of beach themed pieces made it into their details. A hit of sea glass and pinch of creamy coral made charming additions.
Ginger didn’t miss a golden opportunity to get dressed up for the big day either.
I’m a sucker for heirloom pieces and this sweet pocket watch was a saved treasure from Miranda’s grandfather.
Miranda, you are simply stunning!!!
A sweet note and a little gift for her almost hubby.
Aaron and Nick left a little before Miranda and I for a cute little location Miranda had found at Hatteras Landing. It made for a darling first look location in the hot July sun.
Cue the tear because I was crying through this first look. They were both to excited and their expressions were so sweet.
These two are high school sweethearts too and I’m pretty sure they are Hempfield’s “most likely to get married” or “cutest couple” in their yearbook.
Aaron and I searched high and low for Spanish moss on Cape Hatteras Island and little did we know that just a small side street over from Miranda’s parents home was this gem of a location.
I’m just here to say the I LOVE small wedding parties and small weddings. Usually you can take more time getting unique photo combinations because their is more time and things are more casual. So getting photo with more friends and even a photo of everyone at the wedding was a high priority.
Ummm drop everything, I’m on photographing weddings with sunshine and Spanish moss from now on. 😉
After a little break in the air conditioning on this sweltering July day we all moved to The Inn on the Pamlico sound for the ceremony and reception. The grounds there are full of lush greens from the gardens on the front sound of the inn and the back side faces the Pamlico Sound with it’s lovely view.
I’m not crying, you are. Daddy daughter first looks always get me. They show all the love a dad has for his “little girl” even if their aren’t tears. Such sweet moments!
The Pamlico Sound was quite still for the ceremony and it’s blue color only aided in coordinating with the wedding colors.
Introducing Mr & Mrs Wallace!!!
While they flipped the ceremony area into the reception area everyone gathered for a big group photo out front.
One simple but elegant long table ran the length of the inn’s deck for family style seating.
Despite not being in the Pittsburgh area for their wedding day, this tradition was brought with them.
Forget it my mind is made up, I am not taking sweet-light sunset photos anywhere else but here. This spot makes my heart so happy.
I couldn’t resist re-creating Miranda’s senior portrait here on her wedding day. You can see her Cape Hatteras senior portraits here.
” Grow old with me, the best is yet to be. ”
