October weddings always make me smile because Aaron and I were married in October as well. So naturally, Laura and Lee’s wedding was no different. While the autumn leaves hadn’t really started to turn yet in Pittsburgh, that didn’t stop their stunning day!
Laura, being a planner at her own job, had been envisioning her dress photo for months, so naturally, I had to make it happen. Climbing up on a chair, the lovely front door of Saint Bernard’s Church on top of Mount Lebanon provided the perfect backdrop. I think the coordinator were a little leary of our plan but the results were stunning!
While Laura’s dress was complete perfection, we encountered a small problem just before she was about to go down the isle. It started as a singular button falling off and before we could do anything further another joined it. Thankfully I was able to stop the rest of the buttons from falling off and sew the two the came off back on before the dress was fully ruined. Talk about nerve wracking for everyone though just before the ceremony. Yikes!
Thankfully Lee had a much easier time getting ready at the hotel. Guys just don’t have to worry about all the frippery and fuss like we girls do. 🙂
Saint Bernard’s is one of Aaron and I’s favorite churches in the Pittsburgh area. It’s bright interior, for a cathedral, gives it such a romantic look and the outside grounds are pretty too with it’s old stonework.
Mid ceremony I start to feel rain coming in the side windows of Saint Bernard’s. The lovely sunny day shared a “good luck” wedding day shower for Laura and Lee. Thankfully it all cleared by the time we reached Oakland for their Portraits.
We had to duck between a few drops but the gorgeous Cathedral of Learning gave them a small overhang so they could start dry.
This one is a favorite for sure infant of the big red doors outside the Cathedral of Learning. Laura and Lee had such classic stile with a little romantic fun for their photos. I loved it!!
Laura, your dress looked lovely on display hung from Saint Bernard’s front doors but you made it simply FABULOUS!!!
I love the photo of the dress on the hanger but you just can’t get the full effect until the bride wears it. The dress comes alive and the bride glows all the more!
Lee’s dapper look with a smashing navy blue suite. I’m always a fan of a navy blue suite. Black suites are nice but navy has a classic elegance with a hit of leisure.
Since Laura and Lee’s day started for us just before they walked down the isle, they reserved the afternoon for portraits in Pittsburgh’s lovely Oakland area.
We finished their portraits in Oakland and were off to Mount Washington for their grand LeMont Restaurant reception.
Laura & Lee were seated among their guests versus a head table to sweetheart table. It’s such a rare thing to see but I thought it was really sweet.
I think they enjoyed their first dance. 🙂
Shhhh this never happened and you see nothing in these next few photos. 😉
Laura & Lee,
Aaron and I were so glad our paths crossed and we were able to photograph your wedding day! Everything was simply stunning including you two! Your families were so welcoming and your friends were so much fun! Cheers to many wonderful years!
